Everton Nursery School and Family Centre will be hosting functional skills courses in both Maths and English.
The courses are free to attend. If you would like to register your interest please leave your name at reception or call 0151 233 1969.
What are functional skills?
Students who complete Functional Skills qualifications demonstrate they are able to apply their knowledge to solve problems in English, Mathematics and ICT. This makes Functional Skills valuable when applying for a job.
Combining Functional Skills with other qualifications such as a BTEC Apprenticeship or GCSEs can open up a range of options for further study. For example, you could choose to study GCSEs, BTEC Firsts, an NVQ, a BTEC Apprenticeship, or a mixture of these qualifications.
Community Parents is back in the new year!
The centre is now taking applications for parents and carers who live in the Everton Community who wish to become a volunteer. Community Parents is a 10 session informal course that enables parents to take the first step into volunteering. The course is particularly aimed at
– parents who are simply looking for a new direction and are interested in becoming involved in supporting parents in their community
– Potential ‘Community Parents’ who will progress onto further training to enable them to deliver semi- structured home visiting program
