Toy and Book Library

Toy and Book Library by Louise Boose.

The Toy and Book Library is up and running again for all Spencer and Cresswell children. It is on every Tuesday and Thursdays 9.00am – 9.30am. Recent studies that have been published in the media have shown only 25% of children have a bed time story read to them every night. Studies also show that reading for just 10 minutes each day with your child is the best way to support their education.

Reading a bedtime story to your child is a fantastic opportunity to spend quality time with your child whilst getting them into a great bedtime routine. Putting on funny voices for the characters in the book makes the story come alive for your child and will broaden their imagination.

The toy and book library is there for you to borrow books at your leisure instead of buying expensive books. You can borrow a different book for free each time the library is open. We also have lots of building toys and jigsaws which will develop your child’s hand – eye coordination. We also have lots of number games to help with counting and recognising numbers.

I asked some children what they thought of some of our books

The Gruffalo’s Child
I’m giving this book the thumb’s up. My favourite part of the story was when the Gruffalo was describing what the Big Bad Mouse looked like – Summer age 5

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
This book is great so I’m giving it a thumb’s up. My favourite part was when the caterpillar turned into a butterfly and when the caterpillar got fat after eating all of the food – Hayden age 4

Bumpus Jumpus Dinosaurus
I liked all of this book because I love dinosaurs. I’m giving it a thumb’s up – Alex age 3
